A very fine Percussion Pennsylvania Plainsman's Rifle (Kentucky) Barrel 36", Calibre .45", Full Stock beautifully figured maple with silver inlays and very ornate patch box and trigger guard.   This gun is in very fine and original condition.  The gun was purchased by a family from Richmond, North Yorkshire, England, to protect themselves against the Indians,  when they went out to the 1840 gold rush in the U.S.A.  On their return to North Yorkshire, the rifle returned with them.  Approximately 50 years ago the rifle was bought from the family by a collector and Gun Shop owner for a price of £7.10 shillings, ten years later his collection of fine guns was sold through an auction in Northallerton Town Hall, North Yorkshire, from where a local collector purchased it.  The gun has been in his collection until recently, when the present owner inherited it.  More photographs available.
